I have windows xp home. It came on my new laptop and it's alright. I use multiedit for all my text editing (txt, html, for, pas,c,etc.) and I want it to be in the selected list to open programs. xp will let me browse to find the program I want to open the file with but it won't let me open the program with it after selecting it. I'm wondering if these programs are listed in the registry and how I would add multiedit to the list. When in doubt about what a program is I open it with multiedit.

Thanks Shawn

XTEQ Systems makes an excellent tweaker that enables you to extend the context menu for "any" file. If you review the log file or run the program in safe mode you will see exactly what changes need to be made to the registry and you will be able extend the context menu for any type of file that you like. Go to lockergnome.com and get a copy. It is free.

You need to create an association to it, either by changing the default program for .txt files, or creating a new file type.

Go t View>Fiolder Options, srcoll to Text Document and assign multiedit as the default application ued to perform action.
