I have a couple of Win95 labs and a NT4.0 server\domain. I use custom menus for the users and have them in the network NETLOGON share. Here is a scenario that will explain the problem:
I sit down at machine <font color=red>HS93101</font color=red> and create a shortcut and point it to "C:\windows\explorer.exe" and place it in the \\hs_labserver931\netlogon\931\Desktop. Then I log off and move to machine <font color=red>HS93105</font color=red>. I now have the Explorer icon on my desktop, but when I view the properties I find the shortcut points to \\HS93101\c$\windows\explorer.exe
I have found that I can create the shortcuts on my Win2K machine and they are all good and generic (pointing to local C:\) on any Win95 machine. But after using one of the icons the first time the shortcut thereafter points to the c$ share of the first machine I use the shortcut on.
How do I make the generic local target stick?
