Greetings.

I need to stop Outlook 2002 from sending messages. I've been asked to set up an account which can receive, but not send.

I've tried tools/options/mail setup
send/receive
edit
and then untick 'send items'

but it still sends when I enter a message.

It's connecting to MS Exchange and I see no options in exchange administrator to stop mail from being sent.

Does anyone know if/how I can do this?

Thanks.

If it is an exchange server, I suggest you speak to the administrator. I don't know why you just want to have it receive? Do you want to have it delgate to someone? If so, then you have someone have the right to read only.

If it is not exchange, just don't set up smtp email.

Other than that, I don't know if there is a way to set it to receive only unless the email administrator set it for your user id only

How about this one.

Go to your account's properties and in "Server" tab , clear "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" field.

In this case even if you create a new mail , Outlook can't send it to an unknown server.

As best I an tell, Homeflash might be onto something. Going to the Exchange Server Admin might be the best answer here. I see no options to restrict outgoing mail in Outlook 2002 either.
