I have a compac computer with winme os. I downloaded winlinux 2001 and installed it but when I click on the winlinux icon, It gives a message saying this program runs in ms-dos mode (real mode) which this version of windows does not support.
Any ideas will be appericiated.

Winlinux sucks to say the least. If you have a partition on which to install Linux get a real distro - Redhat or Mandrake. Although I haven't used the partitioning in the Redhat installer the one available in Mandrake can reduce a partition size without losing data. You would need to have defragmented your HD before doing this. Get very low cost Linux CDs here:
