When you've uninstalled OE, you may again find it among the available downloads at the Windows Update site.

Or you could go to Control Panel > Software add/remove > Windows Setup > Internet Explorer Remove > Add/remove IE components.

Depending on which version of IE you're running, you could also choose to upgrade to a higher version, choosing a full install.

Or download the same version, if still available, but choose "Install Minimal or Customize Your Browser."
Then choose Outlook Express only.

The possibilities are endless... /images/forums/icons/smile.gif

Go the Microsoft Download Center and choose the version of IE you prefer.

What version of IE are you running now exactly (Internet Explorer > Help> info)?

simpatico,

Although the files are located here:
C:\Windows\Windows Update Setup Files\MAILNEWS.CAB

if you've saved your IE setup files, there is no install for just that part.

I would not recommend trying to install OE from the Win98 CD. That would be version 4 and it uses a different format than 5 or 6. If you saved your emails they will not open unless you use the correct version.

Anyway, did you notice that you may now have a Start>Programs>Internet Explorer folder with an older version of OE in it?

Now I'm thinking to upgrade IE to 6.0 will I get an upgrade of OE included in the 6.0 or do I have to download the upgrade to OE separatly and most important, does 6.0 have issues that you hear about ps: thanks for the reply TonyKlein

I'd recommend going no further than 5.5 SP2 for Windows 98.

There are a couple of known issues with Win98/IE 6 (freezes, new windows), although many people are happy running it on Win 98.

IE 5.01 SP 2 or 5.5 SP 2 are better choices though, and both can be downloaded at the MS Download site.

simpatico,

Unless you check the custom install, yes OE6 will be a part of the download.
