I have a 98SE machine running Office 2000 Standard. The spell check quit working. I uninstalled office, defraged the HD and reinstalled office. Spell check worked for a month or so and now quit again. Anyone know what's going on?? THANKS!!

It doesn't find misspelled words, it scans the document then comes back with no mistakes.

Is it showing a red line underneath the incorrect word?

No, it doesn't show anything. You could spell the entire document wrong and it won't find a single word.

I have seen a few fixes for this problem. See if any of them help.

If not, you may want to try downloading the latest update for Word 2000.

Make sure word has a language set.
Format>language>set language.

Your not typing in all caps are you? Word, by default ignors words in caps. To uncheck click tools>options>spelling & grammer and uncheck the box that says ignor words in uppercase.
