My ScreenSaver will not stay selected. (WME)

I choose a screensaver, hit ok and when I go back in display properties is set to none. I checked the registry, it seems to toggle properly under control panel desktop. How do I manually set it.

if its a work college machine you may not be able to set your screen saver, other wise the files used to set this are
win.ini and system.ini found in the %windir% directory
*****!!! unless you know what your doing don't mess with these system files as you can wreak you pc doing so !!!****

I did fix it late last night, I selectively reinstalled the windows *.cpl files and it worked fine! So something was amiss in the OS.
