Hello, Andy.
I think it's impossible to compress 1 1/2 hour movie to 100Mb without losing quality. But you can try to manipulate some settings (decrease frame size, change bitrate, etc to decrease output video size)
First, you should get some progs: VCDGear (freeware, www.vcdgear.com), Virtual Dub (freeware, www.virtualdub.org), DivX Mpeg4 Codec for compressing video stream(www.divx.com), some Mp3 codec for compressing audio stream (Radium, Lame or something else).
Then, you should convert VCD .dat file to MPEG1 .mpg file using VCDGear.
Last, you can convert .mpg file to MPEG4 .avi file using Virtual Dub.
Also, try searching the net for "vcd-to-mpeg4 conversion guide" for more details - there are a lot of them around the net.

Hope it helped you,
Regards,
Alex.

There is a utility called D2D that comes with LS240 drives (240 MB floppies) which can run DV type movies from 120MB or 240MB floppies (at real time). I assume it does some kind of MPEG video compression to put a full movie on there. You cannot put these floppies into a DVD player, but the drive is very small you could take it with you and it does not require external power (USB powered).
