I feel really stupid with this. I just need to know how to either save, backup, or export the registry before I start changing and 'playing around' with it, while trying to tweak it. PLEASE let me know if you don't mind. I really don't want to screw up my system while trying to make this changes. thanks

Backing up the W2K registry is not very well documented. The simplest method is to create an emergency repair diskette (ERD). The ERD saves the contents of the registry to a repair directory and copies the files required to boot NT to a floppy diskette. Once booted the repair directory is accessed and the registry can be loaded from there.
