I have a video that I've embedded into my web page. It's a window media file .asx. I created the file in Windows 2000 using media player 7.01. It works fine on windows 2000 however when I try to view it in XP it doesn't play.It just says ready. I've tried it on 3 different XP machines. If I create the file in XP on Windows Media Player 8.0, then I can view the video in XP but not 2000. I need to be able to view the file regardless of what version of windows and what version of media player but the two don't seem to work. I looked in microsoft's knowledgebase and there's nothing about it only that Windows Media Player for XP supports asx. Any ideas?

the only reccomendation I have for you is to save it in a different file format, ie "MPEG" as its not propriotory to microsoft you shold be able to view it on any machine windows or not.

The Windows Media Player in XP is a brand new animal and is only available in XP. There is probably some incompatibility (known or unknown). I believe MS will release this newer version to the rest of us, sometime later this year. Sorry this doesn't solve your problem. Hope this sheds a little light on it though.
