about two months ago my autoplay stopped working. i went to msconfig and it was still checked. as per your site i went to regedit,hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolse t\services\cdrom, but when i got their i could not find CDROM all i found was cdrpwd. when i went into that folder it only had name and data, i could not put in type as per your site. please help any info or help would be greatly appreciated. just a note i am not very computer literate. the techs at driverzone sent me your way. thanks.

cdw,

Have you checked Device Manager>CD-ROM><YOUR CD_ROM>Properties>Settings for Auto-insert Notification?

What do you mean by "it was checked in msconfig"?

If you have TweakUI installed, there's an option for that under the Paranoia tab.

do you have a Creative brand CD ROM/DVD ROM

mine came with a utility called Disc Detector (CTNOTIFY.EXE) and it basically does what you are talking about, sort of like windows own AutoInsert Notification but also a CD icon appears in the Systray area with CtNotify.
Is this what you are talking about?
Because I have w98 & my MSCONFIG does not have any options for CD Auto Insert Notification...

this is the only possibility I could think of

did we understand this right?

i went to control panel\system\device manager\cd-rom\properties\settings and in the auto insert notification box their was a check mark but it still doesnt work. my dad told me something about tweak ui he said he loves it but i never got it, im not computer literate enough to mess with something like that anyway. and my cd-rom is a "teac cd-w54e".
