If someone with some real practical hands on experience would respond I would appreciate it. I have a Soyo Fire Dragon mainboard & would like to use the Smart Card Reader that comes with it to increase the security of my W2K computer. Unfortunately the documentation that Soyo provides is rather thin. Nowhere does this documentation mention what happens when the user, whose security info is encoded on the card, logs off & another user logs on under Windows 2000. Does this new user need a Smart Card of his own? The documentation only speaks about needing to use the card when "booting" (I'm assuming this means rebooting &/or starting the computer up from being turned off). Thanks for your kind attention, help & prompt response.

I used a smart card reader with NT and it was used to provide the NT user and password information at logon. If anyone else wanted to logon they had to have an account and also a separate card with their logon information.

Cheers

I finally decided to call Soyo tech support directly. They told me that the smart card is needed only when rebooting or turning the computer on. That it was not necessary to use it when a user is logging on after another user has logged off.
