Try this:

Copy the bold to Notepad, save as Cydoor.reg and doubleclick it.

Answer yes when you're asked whether you'd like the contents of the reg file merged into the registry.

That ought to do it.

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cydoor]

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cydoor Services]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run]
"Cydoor"=-

Good luck, Tony

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cydoor Services]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run]

Yep!

Of course, you could go into the Registry and delete the two subkeys and the reg value yourself, as you know exactly where they are situated, but in case you're hesitant to edit the Registry manually, this is a nice way to get it done.

Just mind you save the file with a *.reg extension, and you can't go wrong.

Cheers, Tony

One last question. How do I go into the registry manually? Sorry for the barrage of question but I am newbie to this.

Go to Start > run, and type Regedit followed by pressing OK.

You'll see a Windows Explorer type interface, which allows you to navigate and edit the Registry .

However, before changing anything there, be sure to back up your Registry:

Go to Start > Run, type scanregw, then click 'OK', and answer 'yes' to make a fresh Registry backup copy.

After doing that, just navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cydoor, click once on the Cydoor folder (or subkey, which in fact it is) to highlight it, and hit 'delete'.

Same for Cydoor Services.

Now navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

Click the Run subkey once to highlight it, and to display its contents in the RIGHT hand window.
Now find the 'cydoor' line there, rightclick that registry value in the right pane, and choose remove.

Now close Regedit.

The registry file I proposed works just as well; it depends whether you feel like 'dirtying your hands' so to speak...;)

Something else: Cydoor is Spyware.
You could also download and install latest Signature file (http://www.jamcomputerservices.com/lavasoft/aaw.exe>Ad-Aware) (Reflist.sig).
Unpack it to the Lavasoft Ad-Aware folder in Program Files, and have it overwrite the one that's there.

Then have your drives and registry scanned for spyware, check all found files and reg keys, click continue, and have them removed.

Finally, you must reboot.
I'm sure you'll find something here to help you.

Good luck, Tony

You have to be mean and heartless not to help someone called “helpmenow”!/images/forums/icons/wink.gif

On a serious note, I agree with Gangsta, that was great work.
Tony, Thank you.
