I don't think so, NTFS 5 is native in WinXP. Win2000 didn't have any idea what was coming in WinXP. Same reason why nearly all software is backward compatible but hardly ever forward compatible, it just doesn't know what is ahead.
Just like 20-20 hindsight.

I mis-spoke, NTFS 5 is native beginning with Win2000, if dual-booting with WinNT4, it converts the NTFS 4 to NTFS 5, may cause some problems.
Ive setup a tripple boot system with Nt4 Nt5 and win95
And if i had both of my nt partition on my domain, both could not login to the domain. If i removed 1 NT partition from the domain, the other could login np.
Just wondering if this issue could be link that they are not using the same NTFS... ?

It's my understanding that when Win2000 installs, it may change the WinNT4 NTFS 4 to NTFS 5. I've haven't tried it. That shouldn't affect connecting to the network. That should only affect the local disk operation.
yea make sence ... probably something else.
Either way, lots of problems when dual booting Nt4 and w2k

Did you put NT4 on second and Win2000 on last and all in separate partitions, e.g. Win95 on C:, then WinNT4 on D:, then Win2000 on E:? Win95 can't work with the NTFS partitions and WinNT4 can't work with FAT32.
Bert yea it was like this :
C: fat16 win95
D: ntfs (version 4)
E: ntfs (version 5)
Win2k was installed at last, evertything worked great, it was super for me, cause i have lots of 95, nt and 2k machine to troubleshoot. exept that dawn domain woulden't work if i had both on the domain at the same time, the second i removed either nt4 or win2k from the domain, the other would login np
I tryed win2k as D: and tryed NT4 after i installed win2k (DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME !!!!)
So ... I diden't really tryed other things on that issue, and im not really asking you to do it for me, its just that when you mentionned something about nt4 becoming ntfs5 after installing win2k ... it made me think about this issue ...
When you think about it, its kinda stupid to have win2k and nt4 on dual boot, I was doing that just for troubleshooting purpose.

It's not 'dumb' to have both WinNT4 and Win2000 if it is done in the correct order. This article tells more:

There).
I have a 10/100 5-port peer-to-peer network and can have Win98, Win2000, and WinXP on with no problem.

That's what I originally thought until I found this on Microsoft:
"If you intend to install more than one operating system consisting of some combination of Windows NT 4.0, with either Windows 2000, or Windows XP as the only installed operating systems, you must ensure that you have installed SP5 for Windows NT 4.0. Windows XP automatically upgrades any NTFS partitions that it finds on your system to the version of NTFS that is used in Windows 2000 and Windows XP. However, Windows NT 4.0 requires SP5 to read and write files on a volume that is formatted with the version of NTFS used in Windows 2000 and Windows XP."
