sunderk,
If there is only one user on the machine, try this:
Try #3 first, it may do the trick alone, if not go through the following steps.
1. Go to Start>Find>Files & Folders... type in *.pwl and delete all .pwl files in c:\windows
2. Go to start>Run, type sysedit. Maximize the system.ini
Delete all lines under
[Password Lists]
3. Go to ControlPanel>Network
Choose Windows Logon as Primary Login
Reboot
You should now get the login box one last time. Type in your name. Just click OK for no password.
Not yet, try:
Backup the registry and/or export the following keys:
go to Start>Run, type regedit. Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\curr ent version\network\real mode net\
Right-click on Real Mode Net, choose new>Binary value, name it AutoLogon
and give it a value of 01 00 00 00.

I have been having a similar problem, and the prescribed solution seems not to be working.
A little background:
When I originally set up the client workstations on this network I used TWEAK UI, the PowerToy, to log each station onto the network automatically. For the past several years it has been working just fine. Within the past month I have upgraded our network's antivirus to Norton Corporate edition, and all but two of the clients immediately began to have problems logging on automatically. (Previously they were running a mixture of different vintages of Norton or McAfee.) I am assuming it is something the AV software is doing, but I have no idea what. Also, as I mentioned, it is not consistent. Two of the machines (with no unique common characteristics that I can determine - different CPUs, different manufacturers, different generations of hardware) are still logging on automatically.
I have tried the tweak, and find the DefaultPassword string is already there (TWEAK UI I presume).
Deleting TWEAK UI and purging the *.pwls does not seem to do anything.
Can anyone suggest another solution?
Thanx.

If you find the Autologon value, delete it, then look for MustBeValidated under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Network\Logon
and delete that as well.
Then go back and perform the steps I detailed above.

It is a not single user computer. The given solution is not working. Tweak UI solves the problem. But, is it possible solve by the registry entry alone. We have tried all help given to us.
