add/remove programs icon not opening (W2K)

when i try to open add\remove programs in control panel it shows me the hour glass icon for some time and it the returns to normal cursor

Give this a try:

On the Start menu, click Run , and then type CMD.

At the prompt, type REGSVR32 APPWIZ.CPL.

Reg what does Regsvr32 do exactly ?

Does it only works with CPL ?
