Is it possible to remotely perform a regedit to a windows NT computer? When I try, I can view the first group of hives but I can't open them past 1 level (if that makes sense). Also, is there a way to regedit a profile that isn't currently logged in? Thanks in advance for any/all help!

Yes it is. When you load the hive you must specify a Key to load also. Name the "desired Key".
If you have "full admin rights" the key will load and you can then drill down to make your changes.

If you select the option to load the "computer" instead of the "hive" then you will have Hkey_Local_Machine and hkey_users to play with.

You can admin a profile that isn't logged in. Provided that the profile was the most recent login.

Ok, I have full admin rights for all PCs on my domain, as well as locally on the PCs. I can load up the registry HKEY_Local_Machine and HKEY_USERS by loading the computer name. Any time I try to load a key, it tells me I don't have sufficient permission to load it. When I go into regedt32 on the box I'm trying to remotely load, I check all the permissions and they all show full control for administrators.

Maybe the "insufficent privilage to load the key" message is generic and I'm doing something else wrong. Here is what I do:

In regedt32, I click Registry....Load Hive. Then I do a \\machine-name\c$ to select the C: shared drive on that PC. I then go into winnt\profiles\ the profile of the person I want to regedit. I select the NTuser.dat file. Is that not the right file? I am then prompted for a key name. Any key I enter, I get the above error. What am I doing wrong here? Thanks in advance for any and all help!
