I have two related questions. Please help me out. Here is the scenario.
I have only one pc and I use VMware to test new products. I have XP installed within VMware that is running on the NT (sp6). The XP has access to the raw disk on NT. I believe the XP turns the NTFS version on the NT into a newer one (3.51?) that NT's scandisk won't work anymore. Is there any way I can get back the old NT's NTFS?
The XP in the VMware crashed while I tried to install the studio.net. After that, I notice the disk space reported by NT keeps decreasing fast, even though I didn't run any process, not even the XP within the VMware. I deleted the XP within VMware and hoped it would be ok, but it didn't. Now I don't know how to reclaim the missing space and I cannot reformat the partition since it is the NT's partition. dir /ah $mft gives me over 100MB, which I don't know if it gives some hint. Now I have only couple KB left on my system partition and I have missed over half a GB of disk space. Does somebody know what happens and how to rectify the problem? Please help.
