Restoring Ntuser.DAT (WNT)

Hi all
We have multiple public PCs and we have a problem that recurs frequently - the Ntuser.dat file gets corrupted. So we are trying to copy a backup copy into another local drive/folder and cause the PC to copy this file back to the /winnt/profiles/ folder every time the PC startsup.

How do we do that without getting a "sharing violation" error?

Have you considered using Roaming Profiles? They copy a user's profile, including NTUSER.DAT, to the server when the user logs off.

If the profile got corrupted, won't it get copied to the server as well?

It shouldn't be getting corrupted at all. Have you identified the cause?
