How can I set Word to reformat all RTF docs on opening them. we have a problem with word crash if the doc was not created with the same printer. If you set your default printer somewhere else open the doc then change printer to yours it prints fine, If you do not change printers it kills winword app. Any one have any ideas to edit the registy to tell word to always reformat on doc open?

Could you clarify that, or repeat it, bearing in mind that doc is a format too, the default format of Word. I got lost on what format you were opening and printing.
Are you saying that if you open a *.rtf document (created on a machine with different printers than the current machine) and go to File > Print... and specify your printer everything is OK, but if you open a *.rtf file and hit the Print button in the toolbar (instead of using the printer dialog) that Word crashes?

Which version of Word? Did you install all the converters for Word?

Word Viewer isn't a converter. When Word 97 and 2000 install there are choices of what to install. Sometimes all the converters don't get installed. I'd try the Add/Remove section of the CD installation when it starts, if not already done.

word and viewer do not require a converter to open a rtf. somewhere there is a setting to tell word to reformat upon opening a file.
