I'm not sure what caused it, but whenever I open a new Internet Explorer window, it opens without the status bar at the bottom. I have to click on View->Status Bar to bring it back for each window. It is quite annoying. When I start the program, the first window doesn't have the problem, just the new ones.
Any help?
Thanks.

If you're talking about your browser window, open it, then click View - Status Bar. Make sure it's checked.

I already know how to do that. It is checked for the first browser window, but when I hit CTRL-N then new window doesn't have it checked. I want it to be there by default. Anyone else have info?

Just guesses here, but maybe it'll get you on the right track.
In the key [HK_C_U\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main] is a string value called "Show_StatusBar". Make sure the value is "yes". I would think it is since the first window you open has it.
If this is already done, try to right-click on a link and choose "Open in new window" from the context menu. Does this new window have a status bar?
Another possiblility: Open a new window with CRTL+N. Turn the status bar on via the menus in the new window, WITHOUT MAXIMIZING THE WINDOW. Then close the window, without ever having maximized it. Then try the CRTL+N again. Any luck?

The value for Show_StatusBar is "yes." When I right-click and choose Open in new window, the new window sometimes opens with a status bar, but sometimes it opens without one. This doesn't seem to depend on whether the original window had the status bar or not. It seems random to me.
I tried that last tip, but I didn't have any luck with it.
Thanks anyway.

Found this on XP group...
To make your Status Bar reappear (and stick)
Close all your applications
Open Explorer (Window Key-E)
Select View, Status Bar (you should now see the status bar)
Goto Tools, Folder Options
Goto the View tab
Hit, apply to all folders
Hit ok to accept
Close that instance of Explorer
That should fix it for you
(note this is the procedure to get the status bar back in IE as well)

Thanks. That seems to have done the trick. I don't know how it got that way to begin with, but at least I now know how to fix it.
Thanks for posting that Smitty, i was having the same problem but that fixed it.
Cheers
