View Full Version : Desktop Icons

I am unable to maintain (WIN95) my Desktop Icon Locations (after organizing them as I prefer) after a system reboot. I believe this fault took place after a system crash. Some of the Icons
do stay in their assigned locations, but the more recent additions (Icons) do not. I have done some small registry changes in the past, but do not know where start with this problem.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave

Open TweakUI and find/check the option to "save settings on exit". If you'd prefer to edit the registry, you can effect the change via
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoSaveSettings"=hex:00,00,00,00

If JStolz tip dosen't work (it probably will) then do this:

All of my desktop icons just became corrupted - what do I do?

Restart your computer in MS-DOS mode (or just Exit Windows).
Delete the file ShellIconCache in your Windows directory, and restart (note that it's hidden, so you'll have to show hidden files to find it).
