No problem.

There are three main fixes that between them solve almost al New Window problems:

First, go to IE tools/internet options/programs and turn on the check box for IE to check if it is the default browser. Shut down and restart IE. When it asks to be default browser, say yes.

Now go to Start/Run, an type regsvr32 urlmon.dll
Press enter.
Note: you should see a brief message that the dll has been successfully registered.

Reboot.

Now, check to see if Web links work like they should.

Many running Windows 98/ME in combination with IE 5.5 or 6.0 have also reported that reverting back to an older oleaut32.dll version from their CD did the trick.

So, if no joy, my next advice is to restore Oleaut32.dll from your Windows CD-ROM : How to Extract Original Compressed Windows Files

Good luck, Tony

registering regsvr32 urlmon.dll done the trick.

I'll try to post future threads in the right place as well /images/forums/icons/smile.gif

I'm running IE 6.0.2600 on Windows 2000 Professional. I installed the Visual Studio.net Pro pack and afterwards I get the Open in New Window bug, but registering the urlmon dll didnt fix it. (I also tried deinstalling visual studio and that didn't fix it either.

Any ideas?
Ashley.

Try disabling the Script Debugger in Internet Explorer options on the Advanced tab.

Then backup the registry and/or export the following keys:
go to Start>Run, type regedit. Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

and delete the Machine Debug Manager entry in the right pane.

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7Debug\MDM.EXE
