Im having problem trying to install my Norton systemwork 2002 in my computer, but everytime i try to install it, an error message would pop out.

error:
MSIEXEC
"This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down."
"If the problem presists, contact the program vendor."

Can anyone of you guys help me. Do don't seem to know what is causing this, I can't even check for viruses. I don't even know if a virus is even causing this. The msiexec is in the Window/System directry.

I tried to even call Microsoft, but nothing. I didn't want to spend or wait my time.

Im using Win98Se.

My last resort is to Format my Hard Drive (both) again, but before i do i wanted to see if anyof you guys would know what to do.

Note: what actually let me to all this was when i was trying to play Half Life. After instaling the game, i tried running it and it gave me an error "Your HL exe has been modified, please check for viruses and reinstal Half Life".? i don't know if i have a virus, i can't even instal my virus prog.

Thanks/

Note: Still waiting for Hammer/NV30 8X

You are on the 'Net now. Go to an online antivirus site and check for a virus. Here is a list:

You may have to go to DOS to do this, but delete the files named
msihnd.dll
msiexec.exe
msi.dll

from the c:\windows\system dirctory.

Then download the latest version of Microsoft's Windows Installer 2.0 here:

I just advice you to run Norton from CD-ROM, and look for Windows Errors. If not someone talk you a good way to do, working with system files.
