Hi All
Anyone able to help. I've installed a version of IE6 created with IEAK6 on several networks and have come across a very frustrating problem. Whenever a user right clicks the desktop and selects view source they get an error: Cannot open the c:\temp.\..\..\../txt file. (dots point to temp internet files folder) then an empty Notepad window opens. This happens on all the networks and on my home PCs. Any ideas?

The most frequent cause of this is too many Temporary Internet files in your Internet Explorer cache.

Go To Tools/Internet Options, and select 'delete files'.

If that doesn't work, check out this MS article: <a target="_blank" href=http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q154/1/68.asp>Cannot View Source in Internet Explorer</a>

Good luck, Tony

Spyderman,

If it was created with the admin kit, the NoViewSource option may be set in the INETRES.ADM template.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Inte rnet Explorer\Restrictions

NoViewSource

Tried the emptying the temp files fix first time I saw the error no joy. Tried moving the temp files location to see what that did, nothing.
I didn't set any restrictions with IEAK or with policy editor on the network so I don't think the problems there. There is no restriction listed in the registry so I think thats ok.
Tried the fix given by MS as posted even though it was for 95 but still no joy.
I don't know if its related but I also had a similar problem with winzip 8.1 not viewing files in notepad until I set the temp folder in Winzip to J:\temp rather than J:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp
It must be something to do with IEAK as the problem appears on 98 or XP. I haven't tried it on 2000 yet so the hunt goes on.

Then what did you use the IEAK for?

I used IEAK to create a flat install for the network to set the home pages, favorites, proxy settings, etc which as I am sure you know is the easiest way to set them for roaming profiles on a network.
