Hi:
What is the registry setting that determines the location of the "Favorites" in IE? I want my desktop machine to point to my IE favorites that are on my laptop. They are connected via a mapped drive.
Thanks!
Harold

Are the 2 computers permanently connected? If not, I don't think you can do it directly. How about a work-around? Go to Windows Explorer, find your Favorites sub-folder, probably under your name, right-click and create a shortcut to the Favorites folder on the mapped drive of the notebook. It should show up in the Favorites list on the desktop. Rename the shortcut to Notebook Favorites. I just did it with WinXP and Win98 on network.

Bert:
Thanks.. Each day I connect them through a hub... In my desktop, I have Outlook use the mail store on the laptop. I just map the drives before starting up my desktop software that requires items on the laptop. So for practical purposes, they are permently connected.

After thinking on it some more, I think the work-around is the only way to go. It just won't go there when the notebook is not on the network.

Or maybe someone has a script that would synchronize the Favorites folders after Windows is running and drives are mapped.

HI you may share the the Favs in a network easyly - if the computer is not always conected, make sure that the folder will be available offline, you dont need to use a mapped network drive:

Change the path on every machine to the needed path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Explorer\ Shell Folders\ Favorites
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Explorer\ User Shell Folders\ Favorites

use only UNC-Pfad like this \\<Rechner>\<Freigabename>\<Ordner> (you need permit sharing (also on security level) or write in the mapped network drive

That should do it
