I installed this program that came with my scanner,
Now I have lost the preview in window explorer ( it shows when I open
for instance my documents, word or excel files),
The file definition under explorer also was changed from JPEG to Micro
etc etc. I would open the program on double clicking on the jpeg name.
I tried to change one of the keys in the registry, but now, I lost the
ability even with double clicking.
Further before, I could see the jpeg right in my email, now this program
has taken over and it asks to open or save, which is an annoyance,
Are you able to help, please
Thanks

try these:

1. Backup your registry (go to Dos only. At the c:\ type:

regedit /e c:\backup.reg

2. Uninstall the scanner software.

3. For the Jpeg problem: Determine which program was originally used to open your jpegs. Next go to My Computer. Then View. Then File Types. Scroll down till you see JPEG. Click Edit then Open then Edit again. Browse to the program that you want to use to open your jegs.

4. Double click problem: That's a tough one. Could have been the result of the scanner software or maybe an inadvertant change in the registry. Go to mouse control panel, mouse properties and make sure your settings look good. If you have win98 Go to START then Settings then Folder Options then Classic: check to make sure option is set for double click action. Check device manager then mouse. As a last resort try reinstalling your mouse drivers.
5. Check with the company that made the scanner (Known problems, fixs, solutions).

6. Return the scanner. Get a better one :)
