I want to use Spy Doctor as an On-Demand scanner only, not resident in the background. If I disable sdhelp.exe from starting as a service, will this impede any fucntionality except for the OnGuard real-time protection?

Hi

If you would like to use Spyware Doctor as an on demand scanner only, all you need to do is exit Spyware Doctor, by right clicking on the SD icon, down in the system tray and selecting exit.

Whenever you need to perform a scan, click on the SD desktop icon.

By default, sdhelp.exe is run as a service automatically when Windows starts and stays running regardless of whether PC Doctor is open. The question is, can I set it to disabled or manual in the services control panel in Windows.

hey,

if you disable sdhelp.exe, you will not be able start-up SD as this is the service engine to start up SD. sdhelp.exe does not use any system resources unless you have opened spyware doctor.

if it has been disabled, you will need to enable this feature in order to open SD.

To disable sdhelp.exe, click on start->run->services.msc->select SW service.
