How to change the start up button fonst and character and icon with just simply changing the registry?

1. You can't change the Start Button font (unless you use 3rd party software that basically overlays the start button with a bitmap)
2. None of what you want to do can be done through the registry.
3. To change the characters, I suggest using the search function provided by this fine forum--who knows, somebody MAY have asked this question before (maybe a couple times before) Hint: Try searching with keywords "Start Button Rename"
4. To change the Start Button Icon (I've answered that one before too...) you have to:
a) make a copy of User.exe
b) open the copy of user.exe with Microangelo or some other icon manipulator
c) replace the 14x14 windows flag icon with what you want
d) boot to dos
e) delete (although renaming temporarily might be smarter) the original user.exe
f) rename the copy of user.exe to user.exe
g) reboot to windows

I've downloaded Tclock and the documentation is so poorly written I'm scared to give it a try. I'd rather use the tips on this site than execute that program on my computer!

... no, I'm not the author at all. But, just like you don't mind answering the same question a couple of times (...), I like to spread word on some really good utilities, and this is one. Though it's not really in the spirit of this site, some things can't be done through the registry, but there might just be that little app available. Mostly free. Somebody is being creative and is sharing... I like the web for this kinda stuff, forums like this etc.
