Favourites Folder showing in Favourites (W98)

Hi my favourites pull down has started showing a seperate folder named "Favourites" in it. Every time I delete it later I go back & its re-written again. I looked in Tweak UI & cant see a remove box, can anone help me remove this annoyance Thanks For Your Help ---Hally--- IE 6.0

Have a look to see what the location of favorites show in this registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

Look in the right pane for the string value named Favorites . What does it show as the path?

Hey Thanks for speedy reply Mosaic1 the registry entry is C:\WINDOWS\Favorites

Right click on this subfolder and choose properties. Is system checked? If so, you can open a command prompt and at the C:\windows>
type this.
attrib -s "favorites\favorites" press enter
Here's the command with the spaces so you know where to put them
attrib space -s space "favorites\favorites"

At the next prompt
Deltree "Favorites\favorites"

Here's that command with the spaces included
Deltree space "Favorites\favorites"
