I have recently tried to network two home pc's to no avail, network cards in both pc's are installed but neither computer is recognising the other. Could someone help me out with step by step instructions on how to network the two pc's? Thanks

You need different cables if running computer to computer than if running through a hub or switch. Crossover for PC to PC and straight-through if going through a hub or switch.

Some good reading here:

With win98 you can search for the name of the other PC (START, Find, Computer) or if you open network neighbourhood the two PC's have to have the same Workgroup Name (these are case sensitive). You can also link the two PC's through an I.P address so long as the subnet masks are the same.
