Word (Office XP) locks-up system (W2K)

I started to write a document. I got 2 paragraphs written, each about 5 lines long, and then my computer locked-up and I had to reboot. Recovery only recovered the 1st paragraph. Over the next half hour, this repeated 5 times: the system locked-up after writing 5 lines of the second paragraph. Any ideas?
