Hi , guys
Does anybody know how to restore "search" missing from the right click menu. W2K crashed and reinstalling it seemed to messed up my registry. I am also missing "explore from here"
Can you please help me.

This is where "Explore" should be in your registry:-
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\explore

At least it is in XP and thats pretty similar

I'm a newbie, take it easy on me

This should get you going again, from my Win2K box:

open Notepad and copy and paste the following between the lines and save the file as findfix.reg. Double-click on the file to merge the contents into the registry.

Hi again,
"Explore from here" was some kind of tweak I install long time ago which gives you windows explorer view only on selected folder without the whole root tree path. Anyway this is not my main concern. "search" is something I use quite often and it is still missing when you right click on folders. Weired thig is if I right click on the drive ( C:, D: ) it shows both "explore from here" and the search is there too. Another strange thing happens is when I use the default search from start/search...browse and search into a folder for a specific file it comes back with ) 0 files found even though I have hudreds of 'em in that folder...very strange.

What's listed under Tools>FolderOptions>File Types tab, N/A File Folder?

1. under Tools>FolderOptions>File Types tab, N/A File Folder>Advanced:
Explore
find
2. under Tools>FolderOptions>File Types tab, N/A Folder>Advanced:
explore
open
rootexplore

Don't know which is relevant to your question - 1 or 2.

Remove Explore from the N/A File folder entry.

...It doesn’t allow me. "Edit" and "remove" are grayed out - bummer ;-(

Then go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell

and remove it here. Make sure you export the key first.
