If you're not a big fan of Windows Messenger simply delete the following Registry Key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run\MSMSGS

The only way to remove Microsoft Messenger is to type this in the "Run" box
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
A re-boot is neccessary to complete the removal

If you don't want to uninstall Messenger, try this:
- Click on the start button and select run.
- Type gpedit.msc in the text box and select OK.
- Navigate through Computer Configuration to Administrative Templates to Windows Components to Windows Messenger.
- Select and enable Do not allow Windows Messenger to be run and Do not automatically start Windows Messenger initially.
And here's an option from this site:

Good luck, Tony
