Can anywhere tell me how to tell where Microsoft Outlook 97's data is stored (ie. address book, calendar data, email messages, Journal entries, and notes)? I have Outlook as a part of Office 97.

I have a program called Deep Freeze that freezes my hard drive. Upon reboot the workstation restores itself back to the point when I installed the Deep Freeze software. So, whenever I update my address book or recieve email or save anything to my C drive, it is erased. I do not want to uninstall Deep Freeeze (not an option). My hard drive is divided into two partitions. I want to install Outlook on the C drive, but I want to store all of the data from Outlook (the address book, email messages, journal entries, notes, and calendar events) on my D: drive. I have never seen an option during install to cutomize Outlook in this way, and I am hoping there is a file that I can relocate or a registry entry that I can make to customize Outlook in this way.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Outlook stores all the data in one file with the .PST extension, usually called "outlook.pst" or "inbox.pst". Do a search of your hard drives for *.pst and you should find it as it varies location depending on your Windows version.

You can relocate the file by closing Outlook, moving the .PST to the new location, then restart Outlook, it will then prompt you to specify the file location.

Well I thought that did it :-)

It seems that I when I moved the outlook.pst file, it changed the location in some parts of Outlook but not in others.

I have added some contacts to my contact list, but when I click on the button to create a new email message and then click on the "TO" button to get my addresses from my Contact List, it says that it cannot locate the folder that contains my contact list.

I'm thinking that when I moved the Outlook.pst folder, it changed the values in the registry, but not somewhere else.

Any more suggestions???

I don't use Outlook '97, I use 2002, but can't you use the import/export feature and send the folder(s) to an excel speadsheet (for example)? Or is this not a feature of '97?
