Virus Scan Requested in Word2002 (W2K)

Whenever I open a document in Word2002, it runs a virus scan on the doc. I use Norton Anti-Virus 2000. I've been unable to find a way to prevent this. Any suggestions?

I have Office 2000 and Norton AntiVirus 2002 but in the Norton AV screen under Options, there is an Enable Office plug-in setting that can be changed.
