This question is related to the instructions for "Deny Access to the Display Settings". The instructions worked for the computer that I have that uses the windows 95 OS, but when I attempted to make the same change on a computer with the Windows NT OS I didn't have a \system folder.
Also when I followed the instructions to " Hide Control Panel on Start Menu (Windows 9x and NT)"
I'm still able to see the control panel on the start menu.
For the instruction "Hiding Control Panel Applets" Windows NT. To hide the Display, would this be correct "Display.cpl"
Thanks Marvin Bailey

For NT/2000, you could use this
Use this setting to hide the Display icon under Control Panel
HKCU\Control Panel\Don't Load
and add the value "desk.cpl" (REG_SZ) and set the value equal to 1.

I followed the instructions I received from reghakr, but the "don't load" folder did not exist on this computer. Do I need to create a folder? and if so, How is this done? Thanks Marvin

Make your way down the line to Control Panel, then right-click it and choose "New" "Key" and call it Don't load
Then with Don't load highlighted right-click in the right pane and choose "New" "String Value" and call it:-
desk.cpl
double-click on this and give it a Data Value of either:-
1
or
no
I'm a newbie, take it easy on me
Edited by Dirk_Diggler on 04/01/02 13:29.

Marvin,
For the StartMenu problem,
backup the registry and/or export the following keys:
go to Start>Run, type regedit. Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer
Right-click on the Explorer key, choose new>DWORD value, name it NoSetFolders. Right-click on that and give it a value of 1.
