Hello There,

I work in a large Work Place with 500-600 PC's All Have Windows Netmeeting for remote support..Now it has been discovered some people know the password that shouldn't know it..So we want to change the password, now is there..

1.A registry setting that can changed to change the windows netmeeting password? that then can be placed on the uses pc through remote registry..

2.Or is there a file of some description that can be replaced or modified to change the password..

3.Or is there a automated installation procedure method that doesn't require any user input i.e through logon script or something like that.?

4.Or the last resort a re-install...Which hopefully we won't have to do!!!!

Please Help!!!

Net meeting, as I know it, sets passwords only for the current meeting. If you have an ILS server that you use for directory services, then, you will be able to use NetMeeting without a password at all because only Administrators of the users box can take immediate control. There is a help doc for netmeeting that explains this and it comes with all Win2k boxes.

The lack of response is probably due to the fact that there is not a registry fix for your problem. Typically passwords are not stored in the registry and using a single password for access is not the safest method from a security standpoint. If you use the NT security for access then you can restrict Remote Desktop Access to administrators based on their NT logon and not based on an individual password that works on all machines. To be honest using an individual password is a security hole (similar to sharing with passwords). It only takes one person to determine the password and your security is compormised.

As GMEN stated earlier the security features of Netmeeting are well documented on the Microsoft Website. You may want to take a look at the information at this link and try an alternate method for determining access rights.
