Ive just not long ago found the fun in looking through the windows98se registry, just learning. Can anyone answer this I was trying to change some stuff in the registry to do with a utility, just stop the splash screen & a few other things but when I changed it & close registry I checked to see if my utility trick had worked it hadn't. I went back to registry & everything was back as normal like I never touched it. I think the utility has some way of stopping us tweaking it. . . its an ad blocker is this possible ---Hally---

Sure it's possible and probable. For instance, about the only way to permanently stop the Norton splash screens was a patch downloadable from Norton.

Personally, I think it is a vanity thing. We all, in some way large or small, like to have our '15 minutes of fame' but some like it more than others.

What does that mean ---Hally---

I am guessing that it is meant that Ad-Subtract wants their 15 minutes of fame so may have the splash screen written into one of the .dll files to make sure it shows so they can have their 15 minutes.

"I thought Bert was having a shot at me or something"
I wouldn't intentionally do that to anyone until I knew them better, too easy for a joke to be mis-understood.

My reference to Norton earlier was meant as an example.

Try adding the -no splash -no popup to the run command within the startup menu's shortcut for the program.

I will check when I get home tonight as I have succeeded in applying something similar to Zone Alarm within the C:\Windows\All users folder.

My ZA doesn't show Splash ..? works
but I am really annoyed by McAfee Virus scan Splashing on every file I mark & right click to "scan for viruses" from the context drop menu.
This may be tolerable for 1 or 2 files but when you highlight 20 or 30 files to be scanned it splashes as many times & then I have to close 30 occurances of Virus Scan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
