My computer locked up and I had to shut it down and reboot. Now I am unable to open Outlook. I reinstalled Office 2000 and I can open all of the other apps except for Outlook. I have a TON of email saved on there and don't know what to do to fix the issue. Any ideas????

Most likely is there is now some corruption in your mail storage file (.PST). This Microsoft support article details the ways to repair it. How to Use the Inbox Repair Tool to Recover Messages

i've actually tried doing that already. still nothing. i've uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times. word, excel, etc...are all working. when i click on outlook, the "microsoft outlook" box comes up but it hangs. i imported the pst into express for now but i'd rather use outlook. i hope i don't need to reimage the machine. any other ideas??

Try renaming the .PST to something else and let Outlook start with a fresh PST to see if there is any problem there.

I have experienced this same problem 4 times over the past year. Somehow I fix it and every time swear I am going to write down what the fix was ... but usually too excited about it working and skip the documentation.
Anyway, I have the problem again and can't seem to fix it this time. I have tried your suggestion and Outlook still will not open. Any ideas?
