I'm not sure if it's the right place for this post or not. I'm not even sure if it's a MS-Outlook's problem or MS-Word or IE6 or even WinXP.

I'm running a WinXp pro machine and set its IE6's mail program to MS-Outlook. In this situation going to "File/send/Send Link By Mail(L).... " menu opens up a new mail with a yellow background black foreground error message between the ToolBar and "To" button saying "The attached file may occur some problem, it's unusable. newpost.url"

In case of setting the mail program of IE6 to "OutLook Express" everything goes fine and there's no problem at all.

I've set Microsoft word as the default mail editor for Microsoft OutLook.

Is there any setting within MS-Outlook or MS-Word or IE6 to prevent this error.
( all menu Items or Error is a translation of Japanese version of WinXp pro and may differ slightly with your English version)

Any kind of help is appreciated greatly.

Unfortunately, it looks like this may be a known problem with no listed fix. See <a target="_blank" href=http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q291506>this article</a>

Thanx for your reply. I wasn't content with what has been explained in the link in your post.
I called Office HELPDESK and it's what they explained and asked me to do.

In MS-Outlook ".exe" and ".url" extensions aren't known as secure extensions. That's why I receive such an error when a *.exe or *.url is attached to a mail. *.jpeg and .jpg are secure ones. To make MS-Outlook assume .exe or .url is a secure extension I was asked to add a string value "Level1Remove" to the following key.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\O utlook\Security

And set the data for this value to ".url;.exe" (without quotes)

I was told I can add any other extensions separated by semicolon (;) to this value if I believe they are secure for my pc.

Following this instruction I don't receive this error any more.

PS: They were insisting on keeping the capital letter order of this value.
