Hi all, (?)
I recently found the "Backdoor Trojan" was on my system after a scan by Norton. I went to their web site for instructions on removing this beast and although I followed their instructions to the letter, I could not find any reference to this bug anywhere they told me to look! (reg, system.ini file, win.ini file, etc.) I did however delete the little sob from my system as instructed, did another full scan and found nothing. Is it safe to assume (I hate that word...) that I'm free of it for good?

You should be alright if you were able to locate the file and delete it.

Which trojan was it? It still might be worth checking one of the other anti-virus sites (e.g. Trend Micro) to see if they have any other information. Sometimes there are several variations of the same virus all slightly different that make slightly different changes.

Regards,

Thanks for the confidence boost.
All that Norton said regarding the name was: "Backdoor Trojan.exe"
I realize there are alot of these out there but that is all I have to go on.
I have since installed a firewall so I'll see if anything is trying to get out. (or in)
