A client using Word 97/Home Essentials 98 on Win98 machine has an irritating problem in Word 97 and Works word processor.

First time opening a new document or existing document, when going to File, Page Setup, both programs [Word & Works] take 14 to 17 seconds to open the dialog box for viewing/changing the Page Setup. The next several times takes only 2-4 seconds. Close both programs and problem returns when opened again.

Epson printer has been removed, HP932 installed, removed, re-installed, changed from parallel to USB, programs removed/re-installed. Everything else works fine.

McAfee Antivirus, IE5/OE5, 64MB RAM, 1024x768 display.

In the past whenever I've had a print preview or page setup problem it usually ending up being a printer driver problem. You mentioned you removed an Epson driver, and reinstalled an HP driver, are there any others like a WinFax driver that could be causing a problem?

Does it affect any other applications? And are there any other side-effects other than the slow start-up?

No other printer drivers, no fax program. Doesn't seem to be a problem in any other program.
