I work for an ISP in technical support and lately there have been several customers that have been experiencing Idle connections. While they are on the Internet the connection dies off while they are online... they will be surfing the Internet and then all of a sudden it just stalls out and is idle... then it comes back... then it happens again...

I am really not sure what might cause this... seems that it might be noise on the phone line causing the traffic to die off, but I am not sure...

Anyone have any ideas?

Outdated modem drivers? Corrupted DUN files or Winsock files?

I have tried all of these... and will try it again.. If this does not work I am not sure what else to try

Maybe there is an anwsering service activited on the phone line by the phone company. This can cause problems with dialing in.

Thanks I will try that.... I do remember this user mentioning a voicemail system and not just call waiting...
