I want to convert my enitre hard drive from fat32 to ntfs. It wouldn't do ntfs when I installed Windows 2000 saying there were errors. Ran Norton Disk Doctor 2002, says there are errors but unable to fix. Also I have partition magic 7 that says it can convert the drive to ntfs, but I don't want to risk a crash.
Any suggestions????

paumcd,
you could use Diskpart or other Recovery Console commands to give you more info. Here's a good listing of them:

You can't convert a volume that's in use (such as you C: drive). Maybe Partition Magic can, not sure.

The command is convert c: /fs:ntfs /v
This isn't a good idea if there are already problems with your file system though. I'd boot from a Win98 floppy and run scandisk c: /surface beforehand. If it finds any bad sectors then get a new hard drive and copy your data over pronto.
You should also run the drive manufacturer's diagnostics if you have them. They may generate an error code. This will help in getting it replaced if it's under warranty.
