when i run a full surface scan with sacndisk i get
alot of bad clusters, the wired thing is that my HD is new i replaced it because my old one had this problem that prevented me from booting up my comp the guys that replaced it said it had alot of bad clusters i was wondering if this problem is repeating itself and if it has anything to do with my computer or some other thing that may cause it?

and another thing, i always get this blue screen telling me that windows was unable to write to C.
can this be related to my problem?

my specs:
p-4 1400ghz, 128rdram, geforce2 32mb, 40gb hd
windows 98se

Using the brand name of the drive, go to their web site and download their diagnostic. If it finds no problem with the drive, start checking other things, data cable, the way it is plugged in, possible mainboard/IDE socket problems, bent pins on drive or mainboard.

hey i recently got a whole LAN to experiment on and one of the problems i had was a sampling of few computer were exposed to the elements (just happened to be rain) this shorted out some of the compontnts...i have no clue which. THe point is that if you have a faulty PCI driver or motherboard or anything that dirreclty conncets to the diskdrive you will have no way of dianosing (spelling?) the problem because all tests will usually come up positive. Another thing...are the clusters physically bad or have they been corrupted? if they are just logically dammaged you can protect this dammage by a program called "mini-format" avaible at Zdnet and defraging daily like when you shut down...if it is a physical problem then you need to have you system checked out.

If you don't like my oppinion or cannot find or pay for a computer specialist just find another oppinion...i'm just a practincing preguru

thnx for posting you opinion.
im not sure what kind of damage it is really,
i think that ill format my HD i read that it suposed to
remove that logically damged parts, and if i get those badclusters again its probably physicall damage.
