I'm hoping someone can tell me why the "Find Files or Folders" search option in Windows Explorer has suddenly quit working on my system. It won't work from the start button search or in any folder view in Explorer.
I can't recall exactly when I last used it successfully, but I first noticed this problem a couple weeks ago....it's become an annoyance now.
Hopefully someone can help or point me to someone who can.

I don't have the immediate answer at the moment.
However, you can press the F3 key to execute the search window.

Hey Patrick,
I have no problem opening the search window...from the F3 command, or the Start button or within any folder in Explorer. Once opened, I type in file type I'm searching, give it a location to search and hit the "search" button......nothing happens...the "stop" button stays greyed out....no search is performed. It doesn't matter even if I type in something in the "containing text" window...still no search.

If you have TweakUI? Go to the TweakUI desktop tab and put a tick in "Search Results"
