Hi my problem I've had for a while & just put up with it, but now its irritating! Firstly I have a Pentium120mghz, 48mb Ram,SIS6326 8 graphics accelerator. My screen looks like its not focused or a watery, I go to adaptor resolution & change to optimal & presto beautiful clear picture except now the screen is 1\2 inch in on both sides L & R. My adjustment on moniter (Tatung cm14uh) is fully outwards. I can select a few settings in the adapter 60, 72, 75 optimal & default, all the setting are fuzzy except for optimal & 60 but the width problem shows up. I have 600x800 setting & 16 high colours, its a catch 22, has anyone heard of this before & knows the fix for it please help me ---Hally---

Is that an older monitor, 3 to 8 years old? Your situation occurs frequently with older monitors, they can't handle the higher resolutions. Sometimes the video/display adapter can be failing and do the same. Since you have 'high colors' you probably have the best software driver for the card but you might check for an updated driver. And the refresh rate on older monitors was pretty limited.

I've seen a number of older monitors do the same as yours, got 2 myself, can't get 800x600 without scrambling the screen. As to the video card, it depends again on how old it is. After a company quits production of an item, they have no money coming from it so they lose interest in keeping it up to date. All in the name of profit, costs too much to update old stuff.
