I keep getting this message.."Outlook Express is going to migrate your store from the Beta 2 format. This will remove the messages.ods file." Then "OK". Once you click on "OK" I get this message.."Msimn has caused an error in MSOE.DLL. Msimn will now close". Then I am right back to my desktop where I started. I have never gone "inside" my computer and changed anything. When my mail was downloading the last time, my computer shut down and restarted on it's own????? From then on, I get these messages. Please Help....I have NO CLUE how to fix this. If you need my email ... it is girlpaw@hotmail.com Thanks for any and all help!!

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods:
If You Do Not Want to Save Your E-Mail Messages
If you do not want to save your e-mail messages in Outlook Express 5 Beta 2, rename the Messages.ods file.
For information about how to rename a file, click Start , click Help , click the Index tab, type renaming , and then double-click the Renaming Files Help topic.
If You Want to Save Your E-Mail Messages
If you want to save your e-mail messages in Outlook Express 5 Beta 2:
Find out which folders contain the Messages.ods file and the .dbx files:
Click Start , point to Find , and then click Files or Folders .
In the Named box, type messages.ods *.dbx , and then click Find Now .
Move the Messages.ods file into the same folder that contains the .dbx files.
For information about how to move files, click Start , click Help , click the Index tab, type moving files , and then click Display .
Use Registry Editor to delete the ConvertedToDBX value in the registry:
Click Start , click Run , type Regedt32 , and then click OK .
Double-click to expand the HKEY_CURRENT_USER folder, expand the Identities folder, and then expand the {clsid} folder.
Expand the Software folder, expand the Microsoft folder, and then expand the Outlook Express folder.
Expand the 5.0 folder, and then click the ConvertedToDBX value.
On the Edit menu, click Delete , and then click OK .
Quit Registry Editor.
Restart your computer, and then start Outlook Express.

It is part of Win2K/XP in the Windows/System32 folder. Won't run on Win98, gives message can't find libraries it needs.

It also occurs if your Folders.dbx file is corrupted, or 'read-only'.
It can happen when the properties of other *.dbx files are set to 'read-only' as well.
Close Outlook Express.
Now find your Folders.dbx file, and rename it to Folders.old.
Start up OE. Do you get the error?
If you do, Go to Start/run, and type *.dbx (don't forget the asterisk and the dot).
Rightclick each file, and choose properties in order to check it isn't marked 'read-only'.
If it is, remove the check mark.
I know about the Messages.ods thing, but I seem to recall this only goes for OE 5.
I'm running 5.5 SP 2, and I don't 'own' a Messages.ods file.

The Knowledge Base article at
<a target="_blank" href=http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q225867>http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q225867</a>
is not real clear in this paragraph:
"For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys and Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it. If you are running Windows NT or Windows 2000, you should also update your Emergency Repair Disk (ERD)."
Win9x/ME has regedit and WinNT/2000/XP has both regedit and regedt32.
