Hello,
A virus infected my computer and now I cannot access any executable (applications) in my computer, not even my registry.exe where I have to go to delete a line to kill the last part of the virus, previously I run my antivirus to get rid of part of it.
I tried to use the RUN command from windows, doesn't work, I tried MS-DOS, doesn't work, is there any other way (maybe if I go to plain DOS) to access regedit?
Thanks,
Al

Courtesy of one of the regulars here (Pat OBrien or Reghakr). There was a similar post where the fix was to rename regedit.exe to regedit.com and try and run it then.

And try Exefix from this site: http://home.earthlink.net/~rmbox/Reticulated/Toys.html
It restores the Windows file associations for exefiles, allowing you to execute them normally again.
But you should also have your system scanned on line ASAP.
Try Trend Micro HouseCall : <a target="_blank" href=http://housecall.antivirus.com/pc_housecall/>http://housecall.antivirus.com/pc_housecall/</a>
Good luck, Tony

This is what was posted along time ago I saved it so I can pass it on ...
Copy everything between the lines below into notepad. Save the file onto a floppy disk by naming it fix.inf
Go to your machine and insert the floppy. Right click on the fix.inf file and select install. This will re-associate the .exe file extension. You can then run your programs again.

I know I am late here... but I think that fix from POBrian was to copy regedit.exe and rename the copy regedit.com. Then try to run regedit.com from the run line.

Hey will that fix.inf work on a W2K machine? If not what does besides unlock.reg?
